Notes for Shepperton Div 1 / 2 – 22/23 March

Location & Parking The club house is situated on an island in the Thames, next to Shepperton Lock. The address & post code for SatNav is -  Lock Island, Ferry Lane, Shepperton, Middx, TW17 9LW   While parking immediately next to the club is tight we have some parking on ground between the tarmacked coffee shop car park and the stable drive on Ferry Lane. The access to this is through a gate on the stable drive which will be clearly signed and marshalled from 7am on each morning.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COFFEE SHOP CAR PARK FOR ACCESS OR PARKING AS THIS WILL RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE LOSS OF THIS PARKING CONCESSION.

We will have parking marshals to facilitate kit & boat drop off & directing, once the immediate parking is full.   Over flow parking is on Ferry Lane & Dockett Eddy Lane( one way ).

Event Timing  The course will be erected on Friday and available mid to late afternoon for ‘free’ practice. The course for Sunday will be set after the Saturday event finishes & will be available to paddle.

Catering  The kitchen will be open, serving drinks, hot food, cakes etc.

Water Level The water conditions at Shepperton are different this year. 4 of the 10 sluices are blocked on the upstream side. As a result, the rather large top wave is not currently a feature. However, there is now an eddy in the middle of the river which allows the course designers to come up with some new sequences.   We've added some video to the FaceBook slalom page. The current conditions provide a challenging course and hopefully encourage competitors to come & try the new look.

Judges  If you have some time to spare over the weekend please consider a stint as a judge. If you can help, please contact me (shane_timlin@hotmail.com)

Breadalbane Canoe Club would like to welcome you to our Division 3/4 race at our Aberfeldy Slalom Site. The site is based just outside Aberfeldy - PH152EB next to Beyond Adventure Outdoor Centre. The course is set in small inlet off the River Tay and has a very slight flow of water, it is ideal for beginners and depending on water levels, most of the course you can just about stand up in. Like most other clubs we are really struggling for volunteers to help run the competition - we would really appreciate volunteers for judging, timing control and safety - please contact me if you can help - calum_cresser@yahoo.co.uk

Practice There is very limited space to practice and warm up areas. The course should be set up on the Friday night for free practise and we will publish staggered practise times for both the Saturday and Sunday nearer the time. We ask paddlers to do a land based warm up before entering the water. Access to the river will need to be controlled due to the single entry and exit points, please listen to the staff on the day who will advise where you can get in and out. Please do not use the old walkway bridge at the far end of the course - this is not safe.

Parking Beyond adventure have very kindly allowed us to use their car park, stewards will guide you to a space but please be considerate as Beyond Adventure has also their own customers visiting

Toilets/Changing Beyond Adventure have very kindly let us use their brand new built toilet and changing facilities, please respect and treat it accordingly, we do ask if you could donate a £1 per person fee per day so we can contribute towards the sceptic tank empty

Catering We will have some basic Catering with hot drinks and soup both on Saturday and Sunday Camping. There is overnight camper-van parking for a fee.
